Residential Treatment Program
Residential Treatment Services and C.O.U.R.A.G.E.

Marillac's fifty-two-bed Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) provides care to children and adolescents who are in need of intense treatment services of longer duration than can be provided in a hospital setting. This program serves children and adolescents who have not responded to community-based services or short-term hospitalizations. The Residential Treatment Program is comprised of four separate units that operate with a focus of care, based on the children's skills and levels of need.

Full education services are provided for all PRTF clients in our on-site therapeutic day school. This school program includes a curriculum based on State requirements, and closely follows the schedule and guidelines of the public school system in which we reside. The children are taught by skilled, highly qualified and dedicated teachers.

The C.O.U.R.A.G.E. PROGRAM

The C.O.U.R.A.G.E. Program is a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) program for adolescent males, often victims of sexual abuse, who have exhibited inappropriate sexual behavior. The program is based on the research and training of Dana Christensen, PhD, and was developed by Mark Siegmund, MA, LPC, LCPC, former Clinical Director of Marillac.

Through its mission statement and philosophy of learning and practicing self-control, self-respect and respect of others, C.O.U.R.A.G.E. invites students to make positive changes in their lives by learning and practicing non-abusive ways for meeting their needs. By modeling compassion and respect, the C.O.U.R.A.G.E. Program treatment team helps students develop healthy coping skills. The program is founded in a strengths-based philosophy. Emphasizing and highlighting strengths allows C.O.U.R.A.G.E. students to gain the sense of competence and self-confidence needed for them to reenter the community and lead non-abusive lifestyles. Family involvement is viewed as a critical component to the treatment process.
