Volunteer
Volunteer at Marillac and Make a Difference!
Volunteers are a vital part of Marillac. It is truly the little things that make life better for Marillac children. A warm blanket, a positive reinforcement, a friendly game of cards - these things help children realize they are important, they are loved, and they have a home at Marillac.

Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Robyn Inzerillo at 816.508.3322 or robyn.inzerillo@marillac.org to find out how you can make a difference in the life of a Marillac child. See our volunteer opportunities below.

SPECIAL EVENTS: Assist with fundraising events, such as Enchanted Evening or Enchanted Forest, as well as other Marillac fundraisers throughout the year. Note: If you're interested in joining our Enchanted Evening planning committee, please contact Special Events Manager Rachel Larsen at 816.508.3308 or rachel.larsen@marillac.org.

GROUP VOLUNTEERS: Conduct one-time activities with the children, such as holiday parties, reading groups, arts and crafts, etc. Some examples:
  • Children's Carnival: Provide games and activities for all of our children, which could include inflatable obstacle courses, crafts, carnival games such as a ring toss, face painting etc.
  • Children's Field Day: Facilitate outdoor activities, such as kickball, soccer, or other games. Add a cookout or barbecue for more fun with the children.
  • Craft/Party/Game Hour: Provide a craft project and/or games and spend forty-five minutes to an hour with a group of children.
  • Blanket Party: Get together with a group of friends or co-workers to make blankets or quilts for our children in residence. Each child that is admitted into Marillac's Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility is given the opportunity to choose a blanket from our blanket closet.
  • Reading Buddy: Volunteers read one-on-one with our children, helping them with reading skills and developing a love for reading. Currently, this group meets from 9:30 to 10 a.m. on Mondays. Look for an additional group to be added soon.

CLOTHING CLOSET: The Clothing Closet is an opportunity for volunteers to assist with the sorting, organizing, and hanging of donated clothes for our children in our closet area. Limited opportunities.

BIRTHDAY CLUB: Birthday Club volunteers donate birthday cards and gifts to children in residence on their special day. The club is simple, join our e-mail list, receive an update each month as to current birthday wishes, purchase, and drop off your gift!

FACILITY VOLUNTEER: Assist with minor repairs in Marillac's facility, including painting, spackling, dry-wall repair, landscaping, grounds keeping, etc. Limited Opportunities.

ADMINISTRATIVE: Aid Marillac staff with filing, stuffing envelopes, and other administrative tasks.
